Dance: Armitage Meets Paul Ehrlich
Reading Paul Ehrlich’s “The Population Bomb” was one of the great moments of my childhood, imparting information that, among other things, influenced my most sensible life decision: not to have children. So I’m intrigued that choreographer Karole Armitage has developed a project inspired by Ehrlich. The work was inspired by Ehrlich’s essay about the “culture gap†— the notion that 21st-century science has become so specialized that as individuals we no longer have a visceral understanding of the issues at stake. Called “On the Nature of Things,” the piece will have its final performance tonight at the Museum of Natural History in New York.
