“Placebo”: My FT Review
The Financial Times has posted my review of “Placebo,” a new off-Broadway play by Melissa James Gibson, who wrote two of the episodes in the current season of “House of Cards.” Bottom line: ‘The production, which features fine direction from Daniel Aukin, uses up its accumulated capital in an endless final scene, in which Louise and Jonathan, played by William Jackson Harper and Carrie Coon, squabble. The audience, in effect, ends up with the placebo: pleasure more as possibility rather than as actuality.’
