No Surprise: Blizzard Was A Bust
In New York, at least, it was the usual hype. I whiled away the time catching up on emails and listening to obscure hip-hop and opera recordings. This morning, leaving my apartment building, I ran into a 93-year-old Russian woman walking her wire-hair fox terrier. I asked her what she thought of the city being shut down last night. She rolled her eyes. “In Leningrad, the shops stayed open when it was 30 below and the Germans were bombing the city!” And we wonder why Putin laughs at us.
