Streep To Star In “Follies” Movie?
According to the Daily Mail, Meryl Streep (left) could be up for another Sondheim role. Word is Rob Marshall (right), who directed her in “Into the Woods,” wants to adapt “Follies” for the big screen, with Streep being eyed for the role of Phyllis Rogers Stone or Sally Durant Plummer. Marshall still needs book writer James Goldman‘s estate’s permission before nabbing the film rights to “Follies.” So, this is all very early speculation. And I realize that 60 is the new 50 is the new 40, but Phyllis and Sally are in their (late) 40s. Streep is 65.
