Golden Globe Predictions
The Golden Globes will be held on Sunday. I agree with most of Variety’s predictions in the movie categories, although if Ava DuVernay (“Selma”) wins best director, it will be a bit of surprise, as “Selma” has not been performing well thus far during awards season. Also, I think Benedict Cumberbatch (“The Imitation Game”) has at least as strong a chance to win Best Actor/Drama as does his good buddy, Eddie Redmayne (“The Theory of Everything”). As for the television predictions, I take issue only with Maggie Gyllenhaal (I’m hoping for Frances McDormand) and Viola Davis, whom I revere but who, hampered by bad writing, is giving a one-note performance on “How To Get Away with Murder.”
