Sunday-Night-TV Scorecard
Galavant: NBC aired the two-hour premiere of this beguilingly goofy medieval musical, a tale of heroism, deception, and butt-clenching. John Stamos (pictured) appeared as a character named Jean Hamm. Grade: A-. The Good Wife: Of course Cary isn’t going to jail: a white-boy cutie subject to the predations of toughened convicts? I think not. Meanwhile, it’s starting to come clear how Kalinda (who’s getting a spin-off) will be written off the show. Grade: B. Downton Abbey: The fifth season begins: Mary reconnects with Tony, Mr. Carson receives an interesting proposal, and Cora and Robert celebrate their wedding anniversary. “Downton” is becoming too much of a soap opera. Grade: B-.
