“The Interview” Is An Online Hit
Over Christmas, I heard several friends and family members tut-tut “The Interview,” saying, “I have absolutely no interest in seeing that movie,” as if such a statement were a proud declaration of good taste. (Some of those same people have the kitschiest of Christmas decorations: you know who you are.) In spite of the tasteful folks, “The Interview†is shaping up to be a groundbreaking video-on-demand success, earning $15 million online through Saturday. The comedy, which has earned nearly $3 million in theaters, was rented or downloaded over 2 million times since hitting the Web on Tuesday, Sony disclosed. As for me, I thought “The Interview” — which, in case you’ve been hiding in a man cave, stars Seth Rogen and James Franco — had two great laughs and otherwise was as boring as being alive.
