The Guardian’s Jason Farago has compiled his list, saying it was a banner year for Brazilian women artists while ‘craft’ was finally admitted to the academy. But it was one extremely wayward German genius — Sigmar Polke, whose “Untitled” is pictured — who created the year’s top exhibition.
