Critics: “Unbroken” & “Exodus” Are Racist
In other words, Merry Christmas! Japanese conservatives are furious about Angelina Jolie‘s new movie “Unbroken” and how, they say, it way over-depicts the torture that went on in POW camps during the Second World War. (And, as we brace today for more disclosure of CIA torture, let’s not pretend the U.S. has clean hands.) Some of those Japanese want to ban Jolie from entering their country. In other news, Christian Bale is defending his new movie, “Exodus,” against charges that a depiction of ancient Egyptians and Nubians and Hebrews that only has actors of northern-European background in the star parts has done nothing wrong. Bale says the movie’s critics should “get a life.” Maybe Bale should “get a conscience.”
