They’ve Remade Mapp And Lucia!
I’m very nervous about this. Who could possibly compare in the roles of Mapp and Lucia, played in the 1985 adaptation of E.F. Benson’s incomparable novels, by Prunella Scales and Geraldine McEwan? Anna Chancellor and Miranda Richardson (pictured, in which Miranda is trying a little too hard to be toothy-Prunella) are making a stab in the new version screening over Christmas on the BBC. Undoubtedly, PBS will pick up the show — and fundraise the hell out of it — in the new year.
