No Sex, Please, They’re British
I haven’t yet seen “The Theory of Everything,” but most people I trust tell me that, in spite of a highly accomplished performance from Eddie Redmayne as Stephen Hawking, the movie’s a slight disappointment. Part of the problem is that the film’s script was based on the memoir of Hawking’s first wife, Jane, a book called “Travelling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen,” and she had specific ideas about what the film should and shouldn’t be. The director, James Marsh, says, “Jane had quite a strong boundary against any exploration of the sexuality in the relationship.” In related news, the Literary Review Bad Sex in Fiction award, given by the British publication the Literary review, has been awarded to Ben Okri.
