Amy Adams To Play Janis Joplin

Amy Adams is set to star in a long-gestating biopic of the 1970s singer/songwriter Janis Joplin, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The actor was first linked with the role in 2010, but in 2012 it was reported Nina Arianda, a Tony Award winner, was to take her place following Adams’s withdrawal. Renee Zellweger at also one point was set to star. Directors on the film have also come and gone. Jean-Marc Vallee is now said to be on board, with his “Dallas Buyers Club” scripters, Craig Borten and Melisa Wallack, in negotiations to rewrite. The film is set to shoot in the second half of 2015. Both Vallee and Adams have Oscar contenders taken from real life and set for release in the next couple of months: the former with “Wild,” his hiking drama starring Reese Witherspoon and the latter with “Big Eyes,” about the 1960s art fraud committed by Walter Keane and his wife, Margaret.
