Fran Lebowitz On Lena Dunham

Most of what Fran Lebowitz (pictured) says in this new interview is the usual boring kvetching — about New York, about tourists, about technology. But her response to the question about Lena Dunham, who has just published a book-we’re-supposed-to-read, is dead-on. Sample: ‘I always defend [Lena] when people say she’s not that great. I tell them, “I don’t know, I don’t care, but let me assure you: the world is full of mediocre men who are stunning successes.” She may well not be the most brilliant person that ever lived — let’s say she’s not — but these rejections are misogynistic, pure and simple.’
