Your Weekend: A Selective Guide
Movies: The thriller “No Good Deed” has Idris Elba, but “The Skeleton Twins” has Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader. Television: The Sunday night pile-up resumes: “Boardwalk Empire” leads the way. But the main event this weekend is the Sunday-night kick-off of Ken Burns’ series “The Roosevelts.” Can’t wait! Music: The album best-seller list is really geezer-heavy: Streisand, Robert Plant, Neil Diamond. It’s enough to send me hurtling back to Ariana Grande and the Wu-Tang Clan. Books: I read Sam Harris’ latest: “Waking Up: A Guide To Spirituality Without Religion.” It has some insightful bits around the edges, but the center is very gooey. Sports: I’m loving the fact that the Jets are undefeated and the Patriots are without a win. Finally: Doubtful anything much will change in the NFL — too much money’s being made.
