Can Franco Make The Next “Fight Club”?
James Franco, who cannot seem to produce, direct, or act in any project without a gay aspect, has optioned “Rant,” a 2008 novel by Chuck Palahniuk, who is openly gay. Palahniuk’s 1996 book “Fight Club,” a darkly humourous exploration of consumerism, masculinity and identity, became the successful 1996 film of the same name, which was directed by David Fincher and starred Brad Pitt and Edward Norton. Fincher’s adaptation was criticised by some critics due to its graphic depictions of violence, but hailed by others as an exciting, groundbreaking film. “Rant,” set in a dystopian future where city dwellers are forcibly divided into “Nighttimers” and “Daytimers”, tells the story of serial killer Buster “Rant” Casey, who grows up with a predilection for infecting people with rabies, and inducing erections through poisonous spider bites.
