Kathy Griffin Writes A Tribute To Miss Rivers — Who, Let’s Face It, Wasn’t Exactly St. Joan
‘It’s hard to know where to begin with how Joan Rivers changed my life, but I do know I would not be doing what I do if it weren’t for Joan.’ So begins Kathy Griffin’s touching tribute to Joan Rivers. It’s funny, isn’t it, how everybody is so eager to say how wonderful Joan was, conveniently forgetting all the nasty things she said over the years? I’m not talking about remarks intended for comic effect — if something makes us laugh then we have to acknowledge that. No, I’m talking about Joan’s off-the-cuff remarks when she wasn’t onstage. Earlier this summer she said that all the Palestinians that Israel has killed in Gaza “deserved it.” Including the children. Joan was funny, but she could also be a fanatic. Oh, and don’t forget: she was a Republican.
