“Pasolini” Is Only For The Hard-Core
For the hard-core Pasolini scholars, that is. That’s the Hollywood Reporter verdict of this movie about the Italian writer, director, and intellectual who was murdered by a hustler in 1975. Both THR and Variety praise the casting of Willem Dafoe (pictured) as Pasolini, although Variety basically says that Dafoe’s got an Italian accent like you and I’ve got an Italian accent. The film premiered at the Venice festival and will play the New York Film Festival in a few weeks. I doubt the screening will sell out.
