Michael Almereyda’s “Cymbeline” movie has premiered in Venice. THR says: ‘What this moody contemporary update does is expose the play as a second-rate “Romeo and Juliet” that just wasn’t made for these times.’ Variety says the movie is “more fun” than the director’s 2000 version of “Hamlet,” ‘but equally out-of-sync in present day.’ Ethan Hawke, who starred in the “Hamlet,” has a secondary role in “Cymbeline.”
