Frances McDormand (pictured) is being honored at the moment at the Venice Film Festival for her lifetime of work. Latest example: “Olive Kitteridge,” a four-part TV series. An adaptation of a novel by Elizabeth Strout, which won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 2009, the book is presented as 13 short stories set across 25 years in a quiet New England town. The miniseries will be shown on HBO in November.
