“Thrones” Naked Church Scene Is Banned
The production team of “Game of Thrones” have been forbidden from shooting a scene whereby central character Cersei Lannister walks through a church in Dubrovnik, Croatia naked. In the scene, Cersei (played by Lena Headey, pictured at left) embarks on a ‘walk of penance’ through the streets of King’s Landing. The scene was scheduled to be shot on Stradun street, between Dubrovnik cathedral and the Sponza Palace in the Croatian seaport. The Croatian church is staunchly against public displays of sexuality and as a result the local film commission will not give producers a permit to film the scene. Just because you’re an HBO hit — one in which female nudity outnumbers male about 10 to 1 — doesn’t mean you can do as you damn please.
