“Nebraska” Shown In Color
Who the hell thought this was a good idea? Alexander Payne‘s “Nebraska,” a black-and-white film released last year, was shown over the weekend on EPIX in a colorized version. I thought this kind of abomination went out with Ted Turner. Payne is on-record as not minding the color version, but I respectfully disagree. Maybe I’m more sensitive to the switch because I grew up in the Great Plains, not far from where the movie was shot. All the “Last Picture Show” moodiness was drained away by seeing everything in reds and yellows. Yuck.
