Robert Downey, Jr.: Highest-Paid Actor
Why has Robert Downey, Jr., for the second year in a row, topped Forbes list of the Highest-Paid Actors? As Sherlock, whom Downey plays in those overblown adaptations of the Baker Street detective, might say, “It’s elementary”: “Iron Man.” The over-billion-dollar success of last year’s “Iron Man 3” kept the actor flush. He reportedly earned $75 million since June 2013. That’s chump change compared to what hip-hop moguls like Jay Z earn, but Downey’s chart-topping success is still pretty impressive given that, oh, around 15 years ago the performer’s career was dead because of all his drug problems.
