Gary Oldman: Politically Correct Theatre
What choice did he have? He and everyone else in the movie biz knows what happened to Mel Gibson when Mel didn’t immediately apologize. So Oldman threw himself into the Kimmel confession box and said his mea culpa. Oldman’s earlier apology was more interesting, because it referenced one of my favorite books about the movie biz: Neal Gabler‘s “An Empire of Their Own: How The Jews Invented Hollywood.” But Gabler is Jewish and an historian so he can say things that Oldman, a working-class bloke from London, cannot.
