Something Wicked This Way Comes
Criterion has announced that a new Bluray/DVD of Roman Polanski‘s “Macbeth” (4K digital restoration with a recently-produced making-of doc featuring an interview with Polanski) will be released on September 23rd. Why is this play, among Shakespeare’s many, so often filmed? Because it has battle scenes and murders and palace scheming. The Criterion disc will precede Justin Kurzel‘s textually dumbed-down “Macbeth,” a Weinstein Co. release costarring Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard, by at least a couple of months.
