Your Weekend: A Selective Guide
Movies: It’s “Maleficent” vs. “A Million Ways To Die in the West.” Neither has gotten good reviews, but “Maleficent” is much shorter. Television: On Sunday, PBS tells us “How Sherlock Changed The World” and “Silicon Valley,” the only new comedy I’ve enjoyed lately, has its finale. Music: I’m not sure about all those deluxe new editions of Led Zep: don’t the band’s fans have everything already? Books: Maya Angelou’s “I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings” shot right back onto the best-seller list, proving Gore Vidal’s dictum once again: death is the best career move. Sports: Hockey in New York is usually a second-tier sport, except when the Rangers are in the NHL finals. Rooting for the Heat is like rooting for Goliath. Finally: When people start talking about their summer-vacation plans I get a headache.
