Jim Nabors Sings At Indy For Last Time
I know, I know: you didn’t even know that Jim Nabors was still alive, much less singing. But there he was over the weekend, singing for one last time at the Indy 500. It’s become a tradition for the Gomer Pyle-associated star to show up and croon his rendition of “Back Home In Indiana.” He said: ‘“You know, there’s a time in life when you have to move on,†the actor said. “I’ll be 84 this year. I just figured it was time….This is really the highlight of my year to come here. It’s very sad for me, but nevertheless there’s something inside of me that tells me when it’s time to go.‒
