“Modern Family” Finale: Marriage Of Course
It is an unquestionable rule of pop culture right now that all things gay must end in marriage and children, even though there are still plenty of gays who don’t want marriage or children. Last night’s finale of “Modern Family,” which is still deservedly a Top Ten show after all these years, brought us Cam and Mitchell finally tying the knot. The best lines on the episode were delivered by the mordant Nathan Lane as the wedding planner, Pepper. There was a tiny subplot of the adolescent boys Manny and Luke being video-ed as if they were in love. This didn’t have a satisfying pay-off: were the show’s millions of writers and producers so blinded by the gay wedding that they didn’t notice?
