This week, a teaser for the film has been released, and it features footage, photos, and audio of Smith. The film, directed by Nickolas Rossi, was Kickstarted in 2011. Producer Kevin Moyer—a high school friend of Smith’s who put together the benefit album Live From Nowhere Near You—said that it’s the first project of its kind to be allowed to use Smith’s music. Participants in the film include Smith’s sister Ashley, former bandmates and collaborators Jon Brion, Larry Crane, Neil Gust, Tony Lash, Brandt Peterson, Rob Schnapf, Kill Rock Stars’ Slim Moon, and others.
