Tonys: Who Was Nommed, Who Will Win

The Financial Times has posted my analysis of this morning’s Tony nominations. “A Gentleman’s Guide To Love and Murder” (pictured) received the most nods (ten.) The biggest snubs were Denzel Washington, overlooked for “A Raisin in the Sun” (but don’t cry for him: he has a Tony already), and Daniel Radcliffe for “The Cripple of Inishmaan.” Who the hell does Dan have to blow to get a nomination? He’s been snubbed now for terrific performances in “Equus” and “How To Succeed in Business.” He brings with him the young audiences that Broadway needs, and the star power that the Tonys telecast desperately needs. The other big snub was leaving out “The Bridges of Madison County” from the Best Musical category.
