Audra McDonald is back on Broadway, as a declining Billie Holiday in “Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill.” I haven’t had a chance to see the show: I have to be in a very specific mood to listen to Billie Holiday singing rough. Hell, I have to be in a very specific mood to listen to Billie Holiday singing in her best voice. All the reviews are lavish in praise for Miss Audra, who years ago stopped being a critics’ darling and became a living saint.
