Your Weekend: A Selective Guide

Movies: The lousy reviews and word-of-mouth for “Divergent” will probably prevent it from being the next giant teen franchise. On the other hand, “Jodorowsky’s Dune” is getting terrific advance notice. Television: “Hannibal” has a new episode on Friday: are you watching yet? On Sunday, PBS is back to the junky “Mr. Selfridge,” so I’ll catch the “Girls” finale. Music: George Michael’s “Symphonica” is worth a listen, and Elton’s 40th-anniversary edition of “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” is worth more than a listen. Books: Want to de-tox from sugar? (I don’t!) Then read Dr. Mark Hyman’s new book. S. N. Behrman’s “Duveen,” based on New Yorker profiles in the early 1950s, is one of the most elegantly written tomes ever. Sports: Unlike President Obama, I don’t think Michigan State will be the big winner in March Madness. Finally: Still waiting for spring? Any minute it will be 95 degrees!
