“Beaches” Musical Opens In Virginia
Friend of LemonWade Thom Thomas has co-written the book, with Iris Rainer Dart, to “Beaches,” a new musical based on Dart’s novel. (The 1988 movie, starring Bette Midler and Barbara Hershey, is a memorable tear-jerker.) The musical opened last night at the Signature Theater in Arlington, Va. Peter Marks, of the Washington Post, calls it “an amiable throwback of a musical,” with “frisky uptempo numbers.” All of our congratulations to Thom on his opening!
