More Ab-Ex Fakes Found In Queens

It seems like a nondescript house in deepest, darkest Queens New York — something you might glimpse in a car to the airport. But no: it’s the home of the Chinese artist Pei Shen Qian, in which the FBI found a “substantial amount of evidence” in a huge case. The Art Newspaper explains: ‘When it was discovered that one artist painted the more than 60 works peddled as Abstract Expressionist originals by the Long Island dealer Glafira Rosales, the revelation seemed incredible. As it turns out, the scheme to sell the fakes appears to be even larger than previously thought.’ (Why haven’t I ever seen an Ab-Ex canvas on “Antiques Roadshow“?)
