Rupert Laments Decline Of Soho Seediness
Rupert Everett, who years ago in his youth was an escort, looks at a louche neighborhood in central London and opines: ‘The translucent curtain is closing around Soho, our historic village of vagrants and immigrants, of hookers and queens, of cheese shops and coffee shops and sex shops and peep shows. It, too, is being reduced to a giant waxwork in a museum, nothing more than the set for a foreign film.’ Everett argues that shutting down brothels has precious little to do with protecting women.
