Crystal Fighters Use Pendulum Wave
This music video for British band Crystal Fighters features could have been made using some computer trickery. Instead it uses a team of twelve professional aerialists to demonstrate the principals of a pendulum wave. Made by director Ross Cooper, the gymnasts performed in the dark with lights attached to their legs they as they swung with remarkable metronomic timing, creating a son-et-lumiere spectacular. The first pendulum wave machine was designed by Austrian physicist Ernst Mach, to illustrate the relationship between space and matter. It comprises of a series of pendulums with different lengths and different frequencies.
