Queen Makes Angela A Dame: About Time!
I don’t know why Angela Lansbury had to wait until the age of 88 to be made a Dame: plenty of lesser mortals got the honorific years ago. But it’s now happened: in today’s honours list the Queen has made the “Murder, She Wrote” star a DBE: Dame of the British Empire. Don’t expect LemonWade, however, to refer to her — or anyone else — as Dame This or Sir That: we turn up our nose at such folderol. We are resolutely democratic.
