There Will Always Be A Disney

It turns out that “Saving Mr. Banks,” which many of my friends who have seen it this week keep assuring me is better than I remember it when I entered its twee precincts weeks ago, left out an awful lot of important info about its subject, “Mary Poppins” author P.L. Travers. Miss Travers was not a dry old maid, as Emma Thompson (pictured) portrays her. She was a mother and she was bisexual. How dare a Hollywood movie sanitize its subject? What next? A “Hobbit” movie that veers from Tolkien?
