Elton’s Shows To Go On In Russia

I never had any doubt. Elton John‘s shows in Russia will go ahead as planned, the Russian promoters have confirmed. There had been rumors that President Vladimir Putin’s anti-gay “propaganda” policies would stop the event from being staged. The promoters, SAV Entertainment, have told fans that the two shows, tonight in Moscow and Kazan on Saturday, would go ahead. I will reserve making a complete judgment on Elton’s concerts — he may make a protest statement from the stage in song. But let us not forget that this is a performer who, in spite of his longtime work for HIV/AIDS, performed with the then unapologetically homophobic Eminem and who sang at Rush Limbaugh’s wedding. He gave Rush’s fee to charity, but it was still blood money.
