Is “12 Years” Going To Lose The Oscar?
After this week’s New York Film Critics‘ awards and the National Board of Review awards, everyone with an unnatural obsession with the Oscars wants to know: is “12 Years A Slave,” which didn’t win the top spot in any derby yet, going to lose Best Picture? Mark Harris says no, and here’s why. But an anonymous, supposedly Nate-Silver-accurate prognosticator says Best Pic will go to the Mary Poppins story “Saving Mr. Banks,” and that its star, Emma “isn’t self-deprecation charming?” Thompson will be Best Actress. That will be the end of me, LemonWade, and civilization as we know it.
