“Downton” X-Mas Episode: Scenes At Buckingham Palace & Shirley Is Back
The wait is finally over – details of the “Downton Abbey” two-hour Christmas Day special have now been revealed and it’s set to be full of “laughter, tears and plenty of drama.” Viewers catch up with the Crawley family six months on from where we left them at the end of series four. (Oh, right: you haven’t seen Season Four yet because you don’t have a teenager or a kind adult friend who showed you how to download the episodes from the Internet. I’m feel for you.) And with Buckingham Palace featuring in the special festive helping as the Crawleys head to London for Rose’s ‘coming out,’ viewers are in for a far happier Christmas special than last year’s, which saw show favorite Matthew Crawley killed off in a car accident hours after welcoming his and Lady Mary’s son. The producers promise no deaths this year. Shirley Maclaine does return, though: at least she’ll be put down by Maggie Smith. And, no, they weren’t allowed to shoot in the real Buckingham Palace, because apparently the Queen turned her sourpuss side to the show and said no.
