Where Are The Dark-Skinned Actresses?
Every time I see a version of this poster in the NYC subway, I ask myself: is it advertising a movie or scarves from Macy’s? I also wonder: why do Hollywood movies featuring black performers always insist that the women have lighter skin than the men? A new magazine article explores the issue more deeply, asking: why are there so few black female stars with dark skin?
