Diana Nyad Schools Oprah On Atheism
I have always loved long-distance swimmer Diana Nyad, but I’m an even bigger fan after having read this story. Ms. Winfrey told her “Soul to Soul” guest Ms. Nyad that she could not be an atheist if she believed in the ‘awe and the wonder’ of the universe. Nyad gently corrected Miss O, who has obviously never read Darwin or Freud or Jung or a dozen or so feminist thinkers I could name who address this supposed contradiction eloquently.
