“Burton And Taylor”: Better Than Lindsay’s?
“Burton and Taylor” is the 90-minute BBC America drama that premiered last summer in England and will air this Wednesday in the U.S. In the picture, Helena Bonham-Carter plays Liz on the downside. We see her and Richard Burton costarring in a stage presentation of Noel Coward’s “Private Lives” on Broadway, which I saw and which was one of the highlights of my theatregoing life. (I mean that in a caring, sharing kind of way.) Dominic West plays Richard. And if the movie isn’t better than Lindsay Lohan’s “Liz and Dick,” then HBC should crawl under a rock. Fun fact: in real life, she is also, more or less, named Mrs. Burton, cuz of her relationship with Tim Burton. Don’t you love irony?
