“Breaking Bad” Star Plays LBJ

Bryan Cranston (pictured) of “Breaking Bad” has just opened in Cambridge as LBJ in a new play by Robert Schenkkan called “All the Way.” New York Times critic Charles Isherwood likes Cranston but is not willing to go all the way in his praise of the piece. “This winning star turn can go only so far…to give dramatic thrust to Mr. Schenkkan’s play.” He adds that the drama “works just fine as a PowerPoint lesson in political history, but it ultimately accrues minimal dramatic momentum.”
