Liberace & Roy Rogers Coming To B’way

No, no, not as a couple. We haven’t quite reached that low point — or peak — as a culture. But it’s just been announced that each of these American icons will be the subject of a Broadway musical in the 2014-15 season. Marshall Brickman (“Annie Hall,” “Jersey Boys”) will lead the creative team for the Rogers show (is its possible resemblance to a Broadway hit called “The Will Rogers Follies” just in the surname?) and Alexander DeJong leads the team for the Liberace production, called “All That Glitters.” (Richard Kline will play the lead role.) I have to confess I’m getting a little sick of seeing the closeted showman Liberace everywhere but on a postage stamp these days. (Michael Douglas and “Behind the Candelabra” are about to be ermined in Tonys this Sunday.) But you know my motto: I live to be proven wrong.
