Your Weekend: A Selective Guide
Movies: The reviews are good and you get to see Oprah de-glammed: “The Butler” is worth the admission price. As for “Kick-Ass 2,” I never knew there was a “Kick-Ass 1.” Television: “The Lady Vanishes,” a new adaptation of the Hitchcock classic, looks like must-see Sunday viewing. Music: Glen Campbell has been dealing with Alzheimer’s for a while now, so it’s great to see his CD of re-interpreted classics selling well. Luke Bryan has two singles on the charts: meh. Books: I don’t know why I never got around to reading Rohinton Mistry’s 1995 novel of India, “A Fine Balance.” I’ve corrected the deficiency. Wow. Sports: I’m watching a lot of pre-season football lately. Maybe because my Yankees are so disappointing this season. Finally: My 13-year-old nephew recently said to me, “Facebook is for old people.” He’s right.
