I bring this up because the lady-in-question, Barbara Cartland (pictured), is in the news: All 883 of her novels, including 57 previously unseen works, are to be published as a result of a new distribution agreement. The collection includes 160 manuscripts the novelist left behind when she died 13 years ago. Compared to her, Joyce Carol Oates looks positively lazy.
