Meryl Streep To Play Chief Elder
Meryl Streep, the Hillary Clinton of the movies, is in talks to join the cast of the Weinstein Company adaptation of “The Giver†starring Jeff Bridges and Brenton Thwaites. Phil Noyce is directing with Bridges and Nikki Silver producing. Story is based on the popular Lois Lowry young adult novel which is set in a dystopian world that is uprooted when a young boy is chosen to learn from an elderly man about the true pain and pleasure of the “real†world. Streep would be playing the Chief Elder who keeps things in control. Production is set to start this fall.
