Your Monday: A Selective Guide
Television: John Oliver has only two more weeks subbing for Jon Stewart on “The Daily Show”. I’ll be sorry to see Stewart return. Movies: “20 Feet from Stardom” is a terrific documentary about some of the best backup singers in the history of pop music. Books: “Those Angry Days,” by Lynne Olson, illuminates the ferocious debate that took place in 1940 about whether the US should enter the war. Music: Not sure I’m ready for the new, more electronic sound that Nine Inch Nails display on their new CD, “Hesitation Marks.” Sports: Not even the return of Jesus, I mean Jeter, to the lineup will salvage the Yankees’ season.
