Your Weekend: A Selective Guide
Movies: “The Conjuring” is a horror movie that has me intrigued. I do not recommend the ultra-violent, Ryan Gosling-toplined “Only God Forgives.” Television: On Friday, PBS broadcasts a documentary about The Shaw Festival in Canada. On Sunday, “The Newsroom” airs its second episode of the new season. Music: Sara Bareilles’ CD “The Blessed Unrest” is worth a listen. Why the hell am I in a Van Morrison mood lately? Books: I think I’ll forego J.K. Rowling’s latest, “The Cuckoo’s Calling,” but I am planning to pick up Daniel Silva’s new thriller, “The English Girl.” Sports: The only thing I’m interested in this weekend is the finish of the Tour de France. Finally: School starts for many kids in less than a month. Savor the end of summer!
